Linda had struggled with being overweight starting at age 30. She, like millions of other Americans, tried every diet program available. She is an expert on fad diets and can tell you why most of them only work short term!

At age 47 she had tipped the scale at a little over 200 pounds. She had high blood pressure, a high lipid profile (300 plus), borderline diabetes, sciatic problems, and aches and pains that were equal to her 70 year old mother.

Fortunately for Linda, she had a good friend who had lost 80 pounds through personal training and encouraged her to invest in a certified personal trainer to help her lose weight. As a single income family, Linda was not sure if they could afford a personal trainer, but she knew that drastic steps had to be made to prevent her from developing diabetes and heart disease like her father and brother.

Her husband, who had lost his brother due to heart failure and diabetes, supported Linda in her decision to hire a personal trainer. Linda's fitness plan consisted of working out with her trainer three days a week, incorporating six days of cardiovascular exercise and a healthy eating plan. Within six months Linda lost 60 pounds and was able to bench press over 90 pounds.

Linda believes that if you give the body what it needs, the body will be healthy well into its late 90's. Most quick weight loss diets are short term and result in muscle loss as well. "Exercise alone does not work either", says Linda. She believes that improving ones health and fitness is no different than building a new home. Without a strong nutritional foundation, the body will not have the support system to achieve optimal fitness. To achieve permanent long term results, individuals must follow a balanced fitness program that incorporates healthy eating plans, strength training, proper stretching, and cardiovascular exercise.
